A Community of Learners
We’ve all heard the old saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Early care providers and parents alike must work together to improve children’s school success. We at the Children’s Learning Institute (CLI) have been working with your child’s teacher this year to improve the quality of learning that takes place each day within the classroom. As a parent, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. You are the single most influential factor in your child’s development.
Choosing a high quality program can have a significant impact on your child’s readiness for success in kindergarten and later grades. Children who attend high quality programs, especially at-risk children, can make significant gains in their knowledge, skills, and abilities. In Texas, child care programs can pursue higher quality through several avenues. Texas Rising Star is one of these options for child care providers, and for parents looking for high quality child care for their children. The Texas Rising Star program is “a voluntary, quality-based child care rating system of child care providers participating in the Texas Workforce Commission’s subsidized child care program.” TRS Certification is available to Licensed Center and Licensed and Registered Child Care Home providers who meet the certification criteria. The TRS Provider certification system offers three levels of certification (Two-Star, Three-Star, and Four-Star) to encourage providers to attain progressively higher certification requirements leading to a Four-Star level.
Generations Child Development Center has been awarded the National Accreditation for Early Young Leaders. As an accredited center, Generations is recognized as an early care and education program that exemplifies excellence in the care of young children. Generations Child Development Center ensures a high quality program for children that is conducive to their individual growth and development, provides professional development training to their staff, and demonstrates that the center exceeds minimum state licensing requirements for child care programs.
The accreditation process included a self-study in which administrators, staff, and parents evaluated the program in accordance with Accreditation Standards. A validation visit and a thorough commission review of all program materials concluded the process with a decision to award accreditation.
